Coelacanth Legislation
The following are articles of legislation protecting coelacanths:

International:
Coelacanths (Latimeria spp.) are listed under Appendix 1 of CITES, which gives them international protection against trade.

South Africa:
The Marine Living Resources Act of 1998, specifically the amendment of the 29th of December 2000 gives coelacanths considerable additional protection.

They are also covered by a specific Management Plan in the Greater St. Lucia Wetland park which restricts inappropriate access to coelacanths.
